Hair and Scalp Health
The Things That Impact Your Hair
We all that know we need to look after our hair health with good quality products to cleanse and protect our hair, but is that all we need to do?
Hair health starts within our bodies, which means we need to have good general health so our bodies can make great quality hair. If we have a well balanced diet with lots of unprocessed food, heaps of fresh stuff and plenty of water, it’s going to have a great impact on over all hair and scalp health. What happens though if for other reasons our scalp is struggling to create good growing conditions and have healthy skin and therefore healthy hairon our head?
There are many reasons our hair and therefore our scalp health can struggle such as dandruff, psoriasis or even seborrheic dermatitis that aren’t always to do with diet. Medications, hormones and stress can also play a part and this is where we can look at topical treatments to complement a healthy lifestyle, which can nurture the scalp from the outside in.
Here’s the thing though, these conditions aren’t always obvious to the naked eye so how can we diagnose correctly?
Have you ever heard of Trichology before? Trichology is the study of hair and scalp to balance any scalp conditions and ease discomfort and symptoms such as flaky scalp or redness. We use a Trichoscope to magnify your scalp so we can see and record what’s going on so we know how to treat it. Once we have this information, we can prescribe a product to help fix the issue and move on to the best scalp that you can have. Scalp health is the key here for issues mentioned above as well as including reducing hair loss.
Normal hairdressing quality shampoos and conditioners tend to focus more on the hair that is already on the head rather than nurturing the scalp for future growth, so we need something a little different to help with these things and soon I will have something to introduce to you, for those times in your life that your scalp needs a little extra TLC.
If you’d like to book an appointment to give your hair or scalp some love, I’d be happy to talk through it’s current condition as part of your initial consultation. All the details to make a booking can be found here.
